The 2017 Hossfeld Coliseum Red Blend is terrific, offering a ripe, sexy bouquet of cassis, blackcurrants, Asian spices, and incense. Coming all from hillside fruit, it’s medium to full-bodied, has ripe, polished tannins, and has loads to love. It’s already hard to resist, yet I suspect it has a solid 20 years of prime drinking ahead of it. (2020)

The 2017 Red Blend Hossfeld Coliseum is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep garnet-purple colored, it gives up plum pudding, baked blueberries and Black Forest cake with hints of cinnamon toast, allspice, dusty earth, unsmoked cigars and dried bay leaves. The palate is full-bodied, firm and grainy with lovely freshness and packed with juicy black and blue fruit, finishing fruity.
