2019 Brunello di Montalcino "Montosoli" | MG Valdicava: 97 Punkte
"There's intensity to this red, along with breadth and depth, showing cherry, raspberry, iron, eucalyptus and tobacco aromas and flavors that are expressive, allied to a supple texture and refined structure. This finds an equilibrium between elegance and power, with a persistent aftertaste of fresh red fruit. Best from 2026 through 2042. From Italy." - B.S.
2019 Brunello di Montalcino Valdicava: 95 Punkte
"This displays a mix of fruity and savory flavors, with notes of cherry, raspberry, rose hip, leather and earth. Pliable tannins emerge on the finish, yet this is balanced and long overall, with freshness and elegance. Best from 2026 through 2042." - B.S.
2021 Ornellaia Tenuta dell' Ornellaia: 97 Punkte
"While the summer was hot and dry, with three months of drought, the vines' roots were able to tap water reserves which had been topped up by rainfall the previous winter and spring. Despite the warm growing season, Ornellaia 2021 feels less dense and muscular than vintages of old, offering pretty floral and wild herb perfumes alongside ripe red and black fruit scents. It's intense, fresh and vertical in character, with fine, ripe, round tannins that seem to be a trademark of the vintage – it's a gorgeous, breezy iteration of the Bolgheri benchmark that is already drinking well. The blend is 53% Cabernet Sauvignon (up from 50% in 2020), 25% Merlot (down from 32%), 15% Cabernet Franc (up from 13%) and 7% Petit Verdot (up from 5%); a carefully considered response from the winemaking team to the increasingly warm summers in the region." - James Button (02/2024)

2016 Château Giscours: 95 Punkte
" Intense and concentrated, with high levels of Cabernet Sauvignon after frost impacted the Merlot and you feel it, in this deeply textured dark berry fruits, with slate and mint leaf accents, stately Left Bank, a little closed still, but with so much balance and hidden power, tannic structure inching open to show ripe cassis, black cherry and grilled spice. Not ready yet, but already confident in what it is going to become. Axel Marchal and Valerie Lavigne consultants, taking over from Denis Dubourdieu. 50% new oak for ageing, harvest September 26 through to October 20."

2022 Sin Azufre Bodega Chacra: 94 Punkte
"The 2022 Pinot Noir Sin Azufre hails from Mainqué in Río Negro and was fermented 1/3 in amphorae, 1/3 in concrete vats and 1/3 in oak barrels, with no addition of sulfur. A bright, ruby-hued red wine, the herb-tinged nose features notes of damp earth, sweet and sour cherry and hints of cinnamon. Dry, lean and taut due to the 50% whole cluster inclusion, the 2021 is light, delicate and energetic in the mouth. This is a tasty, distinctive Pinot with great purity."
2022 Mainqué Chardonnay Bodega Chacra: 93 Punkte
"The 2022 Chardonnay Mainqué hails from Río Negro. Yellow-hued, with a greenish sheen in color, it offers reductive aromas of gun powder, honey and ripe pear, accented by hints of chamomile. Dry and refreshing, the round, creamy palate lingers long, finishing with a saline touch. This is a transparent and delicate Chardonnay."
2022 Barda Bodega Chacra: 92 Punkte
"The 2022 Pinot Noir Barda, hailing from Mainqué in Río Negro, underwent an interesting fermentation: 1/3 in concrete vats, 1/3 in barrels and 1/3 in stainless steel tanks. A bright, ruby-hued Pinot, the nose presents with aromas of cherry and rose, underscored by hints of damp earth, chamomile and orange peel. Dry and lean, the palate seems almost infused with flavor, structured with fine dusty tannins. This Patagonian Pinot Noir is quite ethereal."

Sassicaia 2021: First taste | 2021 Sassicaia Tenuta San Guido: 99-100 Punkte
"In 2021, ‘we had a nicely paced harvest... surely a very fortunate vintage for us, for Bolgheri,’ said Priscilla Incisa della Rocchetta at the launch in London of the 2021 vintage of Sassicaia. Welcome rain in mid-August came at just the right time to save the harvest, and production ended up being slightly higher than in 2020. Around eight to 10 separate vinifications were made, fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts and spontaneous malo. The wines were racked to second- and third-use barriques in December 2021, then racked into a mixture of new and used barriques in March 2022. The last step was to make the final blend in stainless tanks, where the wine underwent micro-oxygenation before bottling and further maturation in bottle. Rich dark fruit and herb aromatics are pockmarked by blueberry and petrichor, leading into an intense and vertical palate that's super-fresh with a delightful breezy, saline character. Textured, integrated tannins emphasise the refinement of Sassicaia, showing just a touch of youthful dustiness. Tangy, bright black, blue and red berry fruits overlay underlying hints of dark chocolate and forest undergrowth in a remarkably precise fashion, with pomegranate and a stony minerality surfacing on the mid-palate. 2021 demonstrates lovely sapidity of fruit along with that characteristic freshness and lightness of step, finishing long and poised. Superb. 99-100."

Château Montrose St Estèphe 1855 2ième Cru Classé 2014: 97 Punkte
"Noticeably younger than many in its tannic structure and fruit concentration, this has a ton of lift and a ton of slate-filled tannic grip. A stately St Esèphe, entirely in keeping with the character of this wine, lovers of classical, balalanced, concentrated Montrose will want to get hold of this - and it is just about ready to begin drinking, although zero risk of it tipping too far into tertiary over the next decade. It has delivered every time I've tasted it, and really shows itself well in a lineup against other 2014s. Harvest September 22 to October 16. Hervé Berland director."
Château L'Eglise-Clinet Pomerol 2014: 94 Punkte
"Stands among the top Pomerols in the lineup. Juicy, serious, more in the Lafleur than Le Pin camp in its Left Bank intellectual quality, with graphite and pencil lead showing a serious side despite heavy Merlot dominance in the blend, with a richer fleshier fruit coming through the mid palate, cassis, then raspberry, creme caramel, turmeric, clove. Just a beautiful wine. 70% new oak."
Domaine de Chevalier Pessac Léognan Cru Classé de Graves 2014: 94 Punkte
"Dark fruits, stony ground, crushed rocks, serious Left Bank feel, with Cabernet Sauvignon dominant, well structured, plenty of life ahead, not the most geneous of Chevaliers but brilliant quality, restrained, confident, a consistently impressive wine that I have enjoyed on several occasions since En Primeur and that is clearly still at the beginning of its life."
Château Langoa Barton St Julien 1855 3ième Cru Classé 2014: 93 Punkte
"Abundant dark berry fruits, cool climate mint and tomato leaf fragrance, chalky tannins, slate tug as it opens, balanced and effortless. This is very St Julien, subtle and slow build, one to open over the next decade, not as long lasting as its sibling Léoville Barton, without the rich concentration of 2016 Langoa, but full of charm. 70% new oak."

2021 Fait-Main "Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard" Cabernet Sauvignon Fait Main Wine: 100 Punkte
"Glass-staining purple and 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard has a more backward, inward style with beautiful darker, savory red and black fruits, spicy oak, graphite, and cocoa powder aromas and flavors. It's rich, powerful, concentrated, and full-bodied, with serious tannins and length. I continue to think this vineyard has hit a new level over the past 4-6 years, and this certainly adds fuel to the fire. Napa Cabernet Sauvignon simply does not get any better. Hide bottles for 4-5 years, count yourself lucky, and enjoy over the following two decades."
