2000 Clos Mogador

Medium ruby. Currant, chocolate, nuts and tobacco leaf on the nose; very cabernet. Dense and chunky, with reticent flavors of raspberry, redcurrant, violet and menthol. Finishes with substantial sweet but rather clenched tannins and very good length.

Solidly built and thick, with firm, ripe tannins and ripe, roasted flavors of plum and cherry. Not showy, but balanced and clean. Best after 2004. 1,900 cases made.

The 2000 is slightly sweeter and lower in acidity than the 1999. It is an opaque purple-colored, full-bodied, dense effort revealing notes of black fruits, liquid minerals, and flowers. There are layers and layers of richness, tremendous opulence, and impressive purity as well as persistence. Wait 2-3 years before popping a cork on the 2000, and then enjoy it over the following 12-15 years. This is a knock-out wine!
