2018 "Colonnello" Barolo Bussia

A tight nose, but the aromas of dark-red berries and violets are very pretty. Some nice forest-floor notes blend in well. Full-bodied with very well-formed tannins that show both polish and finesse, providing a solid backbone to the wine, but without being chewy. The finish is long and controlled, guided by the super tannins. Excellent winemaking. They got the best out of the vintage here. Best from 2025. (2022)

The 2018 Aldo Conterno Barolo Colonnello has a fragrant, sophisticated nose with scented, softly sweet strawberry and spice notes. There are very attractive melded aromas and flavors of fragrant red fruits. It is medium-full with a soft, gentle middle. Its assertive, muscular tannic structure combines a gentle firmness and grip to the tannins with a hedonistically soft, round texture. Beautiful, really pretty and harmonious. (2022)
