A classy, fully mature Las Cases, the 1981 Château Leoville Las Cases sports a healthy ruby/garnet hue and has a beautiful nose of light red fruits, leafy herbs, cedar pencil, and some sweet spice nuances. It's medium-bodied, lightly textured, and balanced on the palate, with a clean, classy, layered, and just incredibly satisfying old-claret style. It benefits from a little air and holds up nicely in a decanter, so this isn't in danger of falling off a cliff, yet it's clearly not getting any better. Drink ‘em if you got ‘em! Drink 2026-2026.
