Der Wein ist reif und fruchtbetont, doch zugleich erstaunlich elegant für diese bescheidene Appellation, mit einer äußerst ansprechenden Balance zwischen saftiger Frucht und weichen Tanninen. Im Abgang offenbart sich eine elegante und feine Sinnlichkeit.

The 2016 Caduce is an absolutely gorgeous, delicious entry-level wine from Domaine du Bouscat. Red plum, mocha, leather, chocolate and spice are all given an extra kick of voluptuousness in this racy, flamboyant Merlot-based Bordeaux Supérieur. Yields of under 40 hectoliters per hectare - a production level usually reserved for far more important (and expensive) wines - give Caduce an unusual level of richness.

A blend of 70 per cent merlot, 20 per cent cabernet sauvignon, five per cent malbec and five per cent cabernet franc. Drink or hold. (2019)

A brilliant value is the 2016 Caduce, which is made from 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Malbec, all brought up in used barrels. This full-bodied, fleshy, sexy red has a great bouquet of dark cherry and berry fruits, fruit cake, dried earth and graphite. It’s ripe and fruit-loaded, yet also elegant. (2019)
