In der Nase eine gelungene Frucht und schöne Würze. Das Bouquet wird von roten und schwarzen Beeren, sowie Lakritze geprägt. Elegant und reif am Gaumen, mit einer sauberen Struktur, mittelkräftigen Tanninen und einem mittleren Körper. Alles in allem ist der Jahrgang 2018 sehr ausgewogen und balanciert. Ein samtiger Körper mit einem straffen, dennoch stimmigen Abgang runden ihn ab.

The 2018 Plince is a powerful, rather four-square Pomerol. Even so, there is good depth and plenty of richness. Perhaps élevage can soften some of the more angular contours that are present. Today, the oak is not perfectly balanced (not unusual at this stage), but there is more than enough depth to make me cautiously optimistic that this dark, rather brooding Pomerol might find a bit better balance in time.

A wine with lovely depth of fruit and ripeness, yet always refined and integrated with ripe fruit, fresh acidity and a long and satisfying finish. Could be best ever.

Spicy oak, crème de cassis, and graphite notes all emerge from the 2018 Château Plince, a medium-bodied, elegant, nicely textured Pomerol that has fine tannins and considerable charm. It should drink well for 10-12 years. The blend is 79% Merlot and 21% Cabernet Franc, all from a 21-acre parcel of darker, compact, iron-laced soils.
