"Acquired by Count Joseph-Hubert von Neipperg in 1971 and now managed by his son Stephan, Canon La Gaffelière lies at the foot of the St-Emilion slope on clay-limestone soils. One of the first St-Emilion grands crus to achieve full organic certification, in 2014, the estate reflects decades of thoughtful evolution under the same family, with Stephan's son Ludovic as technical director since 2021. Their long-term focus on sustainability and gentle winemaking with early-ripening soils makes for a muscular yet balanced, elegant wine – a benchmark of authenticity in the appellation. Georgie Hindle: Fleshy and ample. Still a bit tense and compact, but lovely detail and precision, with a nice, slightly herbal aspect and great juiciness, just a little shy now. Arthur Coggill: Lovely aromatics, with some smoky, meaty hints beneath pungent red berries and rosehip, all wrapped in cedar spiced oak. Tom King: Spicy black fruit, notes of creosote and curry leaf. Luscious and succulent layers of flavour on the palate." - Georgie Hindle, Arthur Coggill, Tom King (05/2026)
