2020 Château Couvent de Jacobins

The 2020 Couvent des Jacobins has come together well. It remains a big, deep wine. Blackberry jam, chocolate, spice, licorice and copious new oak are all dialed up. This is not at all subtle but it’s a style that works well here.

Dark chocolate, bark, dried flowers, cherries, walnuts, crushed stones and orange zest on the nose. Graphite, too. Textured, mineral and expansive with a full body and firm, chalky tannins. Broad yet focused. I like the cool freshness at the end. Best yet? From organically grown grapes. Try in 2026. (05/2023)

The 2020 Couvent Des Jacobins showed beautifully, with a medium to full-bodied, plump, elegant style as well as lots of red and black fruits, notes of loamy earth and flowers, fine tannins, and a great finish. (03/2023)
