"This historic Pomerol estate was long associated with the Robin family until it was acquired in 2002 by Catherine Péré-Vergé, the influential 'grande dame of Pomerol'. After her passing in 2013, her son Henri Parent took over management of Le Gay alongside other family properties, including Château La Violette. Positioned on the edge of the plateau with old Merlot vines and benefitting from a renovation of winemaking facilities in 2014, the estate continues under dedicated family oversight. Le Gay offers classic appellation signature, with concentration, richness and opulence. Georgie Hindle: Heady aromatics, potent and alive. Fresh and vibrant, grippy, still a little marked by the wood perhaps, with wet stones, liquorice, some clove. It’s chunky, but it will have fans. Arthur Coggill: Lovely nose of clay, wild strawberry, boysenberry, Port and cedar spice. Supple and high-toned, zippy cranberry and bilberry. Lifted, moreish finish. Tom King: Powerful, chocolatey, cedar on nose and palate. It seems very oak-dominated at this stage, although it may mellow with time." - Georgie Hindle, Arthur Coggill, Tom King (05/2026)
