"One of Pomerol’s largest and most historic estates, Château de Sales has been owned by the de Lambert family (descendants of the Sauvanelles) since the late 15th century. Now managed by a group of 14 Lambert cousins (the 25th generation) following Bruno de Lambert’s long stewardship, de Sales has been steadily rising in quality over the past few vintages under technical director Vincent Montigaud. The magnificent château and extensive parklands reflect centuries of family continuity. This grand, traditional property continues to impress following its quiet resurgence within the appellation. Georgie Hindle: Baked blackcurrant, wildly scented, lots of perfume. Juicy, alive and approachable, with lovely purity and finesse. Salty liquorice grip on the finish. Arthur Coggill: Bilberry, cranberry and loganberry, with orange peel and blossom. This has depth, backed by fine-grained oak. Bright acidity, firm yet subsumed tannins. Impressive. Tom King: Chocolate, oak and red pepper aromas lead into creamy blackberry fruit and supple tannins on the palate. Lovely freshness." - Georgie Hindle, Arthur Coggill, Tom King (05/2026)
