2021 Château Pape Clement Blanc

Aromas of candied lemons, sliced dried apples and some stone. Also hints of celery. Medium body, dried pears and apples on the palate. Lots of gun metal and matchstick character. Crisp acidity. Give this time to develop in the bottle. Drink after 2027. (12/2023)

The 2021 Château Pape Clément Blanc is certainly in the running for the white of the vintage. Based on 70% Sauvignon and 30% Semillon brought up in just 18% new oak, it has bright, racy acidity that's beautifully balanced by a rock-solid core of fruit and mid-palate density. Giving up notes of pineapple, tart peach, white chocolate, and ample minerality, it will warrant 2-4 years of bottle age, but it's impressive anyway you look at it. (06/2022)

The 2021 Pape Clement blanc is made from 97% Sauvignon Blanc and 3% Semillon. Vibrant notions of white peaches, fresh pineapple, and pink grapefruit jump from the nose with hints of sea spray, honeysuckle, and dill seed. Light-bodied, the palate has wonderful tension and loads of tightly wound citrus and tropical layers, finishing long and minerally. (05/2022)
