"This wine is surprisingly accessible, with a charming, bright pomegranate and ripe cherry fruit, and rose petal, pepper and mineral notes. The texture is silky and fresh – it lacks the imposing density of some years (like 2020), but it is beautiful nonetheless. Méo has 2.75 hectares, second only to Château de la Tour, and the parcels are very well placed in La Garenne (which he calls Pres du Château), Les Chioures, and Grand Maupertuis. The 2021 vintage is a blend of all of the parcels." - Charles Curtis MW (11/2025)

The 2021 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has a sweet and quite candied bouquet, plush in style, more like a 2022 than a 2021! Quite sensual, if just missing some complexity. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins that exert just the right amount of grip. Good density, though not overpowering, this delivers a pleasing pepperiness on the finish, though it is slowly dismantled by air in the glass, depriving it of Grand Cru pedigree. I believe Méo-Camuzet have crafted much better than this in other vintages. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2021 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is more structured, unwinding in the glass with aromas of smoky berries, sweet spices, plums and orange zest. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered, with powdery tannins that assert themselves on the saline finish, it's one 2021 that will reward a bit of patience.
