2021 Farella Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

Lots of black currant and lead pencil shaving aromas here. Full-bodied with very fine tannins with a freshness and brightness. Some graphite and magnet shavings, too. Juicy and flavorful. Coombsville magic here. 95% cabernet sauvignon and 5% merlot. Drink after 2027. (11/2023)

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Farella Vineyard checks in as 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot that's from 30-year-old vines in the Coombsville appellation, in the southern part of Napa Valley. It has a classic, old school Napa vibe in its herbal black fruits, camphor, bouquet garni, and violet-tinged aromas and flavors. Rich, full-bodied, and concentrated, it has terrific purity and freshness, ripe tannins, and the class to benefit from 4-6 years of bottle age and evolve for at least two decades. (12/2023)

The 2021 Farella Cabernet Sauvignon, with 5% Merlot in the blend, is deep garnet-purple in color. It rolls out with playful notes of blueberry compote, chocolate mint, and blackcurrant jelly followed by hints of iris bulb, allspice, and vanilla pod. The full-bodied palate offers chunky, rounded tannins and just enough freshness to support the spicy black fruits, finishing long and perfumed. (02/2024)
