Very complex nose of tropical fruit coulis, vanilla, candied ginger and toffee apples. Serious concentration and density, but also a vibrancy that wines of this category seldom have. You need some time to sink into the aromatic and textural complexity, but it’s more than worth the effort. Long, silky and elegant finish. Drink or hold.

Based on 65% Welschriesling and 35% Chardonnay, the golden-yellow 2021 Trockenbeerenauslese No 3 Grande Cuvée Nouvelle Vague opens with a concentrated and savory nose of candied pineapples and lemons along with notes of brown sugar and fine oak. Round and generous on the palate, this is a full-bodied, rich and refined, elegant and stimulating, saline and finely buoyant TBA with concentrated fruit, fine tannins and a long, caramelly and saline, tight and intense finish. 10% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in May 2024.
