2022 Casa Real Reserva Especial

The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Casa Real Reserva Especial was made from grapes grown in Alto Jahuel, Maipo. It aged for 18 months in first- and second-use French oak barrels and was bottled without filtration or clarification. Garnet in hue, it opens with refined aromas of cassis, menthol and rosehip, followed by a hint of cedar. Notes of raspberry and herbs emerge with time, along with a touch of boldo. This unfolds in layers and gains precision over time. On the palate, it is enveloping, with fine-grained tannins and well-judged juiciness, where balance leans toward fresh fruit, dark undertones and a silky texture. Engagingly complex nose of sweet tobacco, roasted spices, cedar, paprika, cocoa powder, white pepper and cassis. This wine shows elegance, combining Chilean ripeness and opulence with something more restrained that one might relate to Bordeaux. Restrained but poised for a long future. With time, this reveals mahogany, tobacco and dried sage details, yet there's a tremendous presence on the palate. Offers concentrated plum and raspberry flavors that swell around its lively acidity, adding layers of dark chocolate as this finishes around fine tannins.
