"Sourced from Rancho Chimiles at 1,000 feet of elevation, where 40-year-old, north-facing vines produce a wine of dark, muscular intensity and firm structure. A rich tapestry of cherry fruit unfolds alongside super-fragrant sage, chaparral, and spearmint, which adds a refreshing cooling sensation. Full-bodied on the palate, the positively soaring tannins etch themselves into every crevice, gradually weaving together to form a solid foundation for the wine’s buoyant, juicy black cherry fruit. Layers of crunchy apple-skin brightness add vibrancy while the finish lingers with subtle cocoa powder nuances. Aged 19 months in 50% new French oak, this is a wine of depth, energy, and precision—structured for the long haul." - Jonathan Cristaldi (02/2025)

The 2022 Cerro Sur is fabulous. Dark, rich and expansive, the 2022 offers a striking mix of dark fruit, spice, graphite, sage, menthol and lavender. There's gorgeous depth, well-judged structure and impeccable balance to pull it all together. Bright acids inform the lively finish.

A Cabernet Franc blend that's been made since 2003, the 2022 Cerro Sur offers a great nose of red, blue and black fruit as well subtle notes of dark chocolate, spring flowers, and leafy herbs. Full bodied, ripe, opulent, and nicely concentrated, it's an undeniable success in the vintage and should have 10 to 15 years, if not more, of prime drinking. (01/2025)

Favia's 2022 Cerro Sur Red Wine—a blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and a bit of Merlot—is full-bodied, lush and ripe but not over the top, retaining its fresh, floral aromas, joined by tobacco and black cherries on the nose. Bottled in the first half of June 2024 and not scheduled to be released until September 2025, it should be singing by then, although the one quibble is that the lengthy finish shows a trace of alcoholic warmth.
