2022 La Chapelle x Grange

The 2022 La Chapelle Grange follows on from the inaugural 2021 release. 2022 was a hot vintage on the Hill of Hermitage, and yet the wine shows freshness and detail. Having seen the 2022 La Chapelle as a solo wine, the spirit of it is captured in the blend here. This is a wine that perhaps looks more like Grange in this vintage, as opposed to the elegant 2021 La Chapelle Grange, which to my tastes, appears more like La Chapelle. One might be somewhat entertained by the fact that Grange now finally includes Hermitage back on the label. With pink peppercorn and sweet roasted meat juices, this is dusty and dry, with cedar and sweet sandalwood wafting through the wine. It's meaty and profuse with crushed rocks, dried roses and florals. It's a big, momentous wine this vintage—characteristic of the seasons that birthed the components. 14% alcohol, sealed under natural cork.
