2022 Syrah Bien Nacido Santa Maria Valley

The 2022 Syrah Bien Nacido Vineyard is laced with red-toned fruit, blood orange, spice, mint, rose petal. Vibrant and layered in the glass, the 2022 is impressive. It's a brilliant, focused, tightly knit wine with great energy. Peppery and vivid on the nose, moderately tannic and nicely structured on the palate, offering focused, dusky dark plums and black cherries. Made from well-established vines on the iconic vineyard property, some planted as long ago as the 1970s. Drink or hold.

Sourced from Z Block vines planted in 1995 interspersed with small portions of Viognier, the 2022 Syrah Bien Nacido Vineyard spent 16 months in 600-liter puncheons. A smoldering, leathery, black-fruited and beautifully savory nose leads to a rich, velvety and seamless palate that exudes fantastic precision. The finish is decadent yet restrained, framed with tight, powdery, fine tannins that swell in intensity, along with a floral lift that develops after time in the glass. This is a clear highlight in the Bien Nacido Estate lineup.
