"Deep ruby colour, firm tannins, lavender and cranberry fruits, intense flavours, plenty of tension and bright natural acidities. This is well crafted, with purity and depth to the black fruits. There is so much happening at this estate right now that it's worth taking a bit of time to simply get on board. 100% massal selection. unfiltered, unfined, low intervention, native yeasts, 90% of the wine is aged in 55% new 'recycled' barrels (meaning that they make the barrels onsite from Sylvain staves sourced in France, toasted locally in Chile, while the remaining 14% is aged in locally-sourced clay amphora ). Christian Vallejo winemaker. Tasted twice." (07/2025)

"Very expressive - ripe blackcurrant, so open and alive. Lots of liquorice, spiced chocolate, clove and espresso beans. Floral scents too, lots of chocolate. Round and pulsing with life, great energy and sense of vibrancy to this. Tannins coat the mouth in a fine layer of texture, well integrated and softly chalky. This has a lovely delicate structure, you can taste and feel the refinement with hints of fleshiness. Tobacco, liquorice and some salty stones alongside cherry, vanilla and sweet blackcurrants. 100% massale selection of organically-farmed grapes, no fining or filtration with fermentation using native wild yeasts. Ageing: 86% oak for 26 months, 16 different toastings, low in terms of flavour, more for micro-oxygenation - 55% is new and 45% comes from first and second use barrels, the remaining 14% is aged in clay amphora for 12 months. Winemaker Christian Vallejo." - Georgina Hindle (07/2025)

"This top expression from Vik winery is simply called Vik, and impresses for its density and freshness. Dominant are sweet red cherry and blackcurrant jam, complemented by toasted marshmallow and black peppercorns, and backed up by cedar and dark chocolate. The finish may be intensely tannic, but that matches well the fruit, which is ripe and fleshy, ensuring this structured red is harmonious, even in this youthful state." - Patrick Schmitt (09/2025)

The 2022 VIK is 79% Cabernet Franc and 21% Cabernet Sauvignon from Millahue. This aged for 26 months in 55% new in-house barrels and 14% in amphorae. Blackberry and blueberry lead the nose, followed by ash, cedar and garrigue. Dry and flavorful, with fine structure and firm grip, this ends with a tense, persistent finish. The oak tannins are noticeable but well integrated.

What a perfume: deep, rich and complex. Minerals are chiseled into the opulent, minty blackberries, black licorice and tamarind with a touch of balsamic. Judicious oak, integrated sandalwood and dark chocolate as well. Full-bodied with a lot of refined, small-grained tannins. A persistent finish that lingers and goes on and on. 79% cabernet franc and 21% cabernet sauvignon. Concentrated, but will soften more in two or three years.

This shows remarkable depth, complexity and structure, beginning with deep floral and cocoa powder details that join the core, redolent with fresh raspberry and cherry compote notes. Generous freshness midpalate buoys the fruit while unlocking savory and river stone details; everything comes together on the lengthy finish around structured and precise tannins.
