A blend of 75% Chardonnay, 19% Roussanne and 6% Marsanne, the golden-hued 2023 Chardonnay Brain Teaser is a total knock-out. Explosively aromatic, it's laden with stone fruit, chamomile and white flowers. Ample body wraps the palate in a warm embrace, with Roussanne oiliness, Chardonnay creaminess and Marsanne spice perfectly lifted by generous freshness. This is shaping up to be a very special wine.

Based on Chardonnay yet including 19% Roussanne and 6% Marsanne, all of which is resting in 63% new French oak, the 2023 Chardonnay Brain Teaser has a lighter gold hue, followed by a rocking nose of candied lemon zest, minty herbs, flowers, and subtle blanched almond nuances. With medium to full-bodied richness, a layered, rich, yet elegant mouthfeel, and juicy, lip-smacking finish, this beauty is going to shine right out of the gate yet also have a solid decade or more of longevity. The 2023 Brain Teaser Chardonnay is composed of 75% Chardonnay, 19% Roussanne, and 6% Marsanne from the Sanford & Benedict, Stolpman, and Bien Nacido Vineyards. It was aged for 21 months in French oak, 63% new. It skips out of the glass with vibrant scents of grapefruit, fresh pears, and yellow apples, leading to suggestions of baking bread, orange blossoms, and lemon tart. The full-bodied palate has a decadently creamy texture with a racy backbone and lots of orchard fruit layers, finishing with a citrusy lift. 650 cases were made. (04/2026)
