The intensely yellow-colored 2023 Chardonnay >R< is very intense and concentrated on the fresh, substantial and mineral nose and is a bit more reductive and savory compared to the corresponding Weisser Burgunder >R<. Lemon and grapefruit rind aromas as well as herbal nuances make this a classical, savory and saline, irresistible Chardonnay. Aged in pièces on the gross lees for 16 months, this is a full-bodied, generous and textural Chardonnay from the "grand cru" Karthäuser in Astheim, which is characterized by its meager, white shell limestone soils. The wine is very well balanced, charmingly fruity and quite feminine on the palate, finishing with tension, lots of salt, lemon freshness and mouthwatering grip. This is still discreet yet highly promising. 12.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in October 2025.
