Jane Anson: 95 Punkte

"Green-gold colour, with a blast of anis, fennel, liquorice, and a touch of reduction on the opening. Grip and tension, oyster shell salinity, green apple, chalky tannins, elderflower and citrus notes. Same mouthwatering finish as the 2021, but the two together show clearly that this wine suits a few years in bottle as the luscious character is less evident at this early stage. A great quality wine that needs patience - takes a good 15 minutes in the glass before white peach, quince and spiced cumin appears. A rare bottling from 140 year old grapes sourced from Latour-Martillac's oldest plot, just 0.6ha, aged in 33% new oak, 33% neutral oak and 33% wine globe. Christophe Ollivier and Axel Marchal consultants. Sémillon dominant, plus a field blend of various non-traditional varieties including Muscadelle, Ugni Blanc, Chasselas, Folle Blanche and Melon de Bourgogne." (01/2026)
