Julian Huber's pastel-orange 2023 Malterdingen Spätburgunder Rosé opens with a pretty reductive and flinty bouquet reminiscent of his whites, yet here, it is intertwined with delicate red fruit aromas that are difficult to define at this stage and lean toward rosehip. The medium-bodied wine is intense, round and enormously vital on the palate, elegant but still restrained and provided with a vinous character and fine tannins on the grippy and persistent, pretty Burgundian finish. Aeration would be helpful here and certainly a big glass. Try this complex and expressive Rosé from Malterdingen's calcareous soils with fish or white meat 12.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in July 2025.
