"... große, reife, spicy Frucht, Schießpulver, große Frische, aber auch viel Druck, kräftige Tannine, feine Bitterschoko, Cassis, dunkle Beeren, Brombeeren, etwas Eisen, maskuline Struktur, langes Finish." (08/2025)

So aromatically multidimensional throughout, with a thrumming heart of iron-rich sanguine notes raised by crushed violets, cracked pink peppercorns, blackberry liqueur and salinity. Plush yet precise, showing medium-grained but beautifully structuring tannins through the extended finish. Best after 2027. (09/2025)

Deep purple-hued, the 2023 Syrah Great Places Jessica Lauren Stolpman reveals cassis, plum, and blue fruits intermixed with gamey herbs, pepper, and violets. Fermented with 100% whole clusters in concrete and aged 14 months in neutral French oak puncheons, it’s medium to full-bodied with a hint of carbonic maceration both on the nose and palate, which isn’t particularly appealing. The tannins are firm and grippy, giving it an old school Côte-Rôtie-like edge, and while there’s plenty of length, the overall balance is questionable at this stage. This is clearly an outstanding wine, but I’d like to see how it comes together with time in bottle. Drink 2029-2039. (09/2025)

The most savory and aromatically nimble of The Great Places range, the 2023 Syrah The Great Places Jessica Lauren Stolpman derives from Serine clones originating from Domaine Clusel-Roch's Les Grandes Places lieu-dit in Côte-Rôtie. This bottling exudes the most ethereal, meaty and animalistic aromatic profile of the four bottlings, while retaining the absolute purity that defines the range. Within the context of a punchy, dense and immensely saturated wine, the palate is the most slender, lifted and vibrant, characterized by a sleeker, more lithe texture than the lumbering concentration found in the other cuvées. The finish is equal parts chalky, focused and expansive, framed by grippy, ultra-refined tannins and lingering with palpable intensity that melds immense richness with a beguiling sense of airiness. After time in the glass, its savory tones further develop into one of the more spice-driven and exotic expressions of the range, eclipsed on that metric only by the Ruben Solorzano bottling, which, quite fittingly, also derives from Serine clones, albeit of Côte Blonde origin.
