„…intensive, beinahe etwas üppige Frucht, dunkle bis schwarzbeerige Aromen, Kirschen, schöne Saftigkeit, feine Süße am Gaumen, mittlerer Körper, gute Säure, dezente Bitterschoko, saftig“ (04/2025)

Technical Sheet

Jane Anson: 91 Punkte

"Intense, plentiful dark fruits, leafy and chalky but with juice, well balanced if a little austere on the opening, will benefit from a few years in bottle - think two or three before beginning to drink. Deep gravel soils helped with drainage and ripening. Harvest 18 to 29 September. 25% new oak. 47 hl/ha yields." (04/2025)

Decanter: 90 Punkte

"Smells ripe but also super smoky. Rich and concentrated. Juicy and so succulent, nice liveliness and energy straight away with redcurrants, raspberries and crisp cranberries. Acidity is fairly high giving this a somewhat tangy aspect with creamy tannins and quite a chalky finish. It’s precise but a touch lean and straight right now with quite a tense edge to the finish. Good definition though. Ageing 25% new oak barrels." - Georgina Hindle (04/2025)

Falstaff: 89-91 Punkte

"Kräftiges Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, zarte Orangereflexe. Zartes Nougat, ein Hauch von Waldbeeren und Lakritze, zarter Feigen- und Kräuterwürzetouch, einladendes Bukett. Saftig, ein Hauch von Dörrzwetschken, frischer Säurebogen, rotbeeriger Nachhall, entwickelt und vielseitig einsetzbar." - Peter Moser (04/2025)

Vinum: 90 Punkte

"Klare, expressive Nase, feine Röstnoten, reife Himbeeren, ein Hauch Cola, dunkle Beeren, Pflaumenmousse; am Gaumen weich, packt dann zu, kernige Gerbstoffe, anregende Säure, zeigt viel Trinkfluss und Balance, solide Länge, rotfruchtiges Finale. Wird früh Spass machen." (04/2025)

The Drinks Business: 90-92 Punkte

"Lovely dark berry fruits. Very pure and precise and lifted too. Wild herbal notes. This feels natural and almost wild as is often case here. A touch of blackcurrant, a little cherry, all bright and crunchy. Fresh and pure over quite an ample frame. Chewy tannins but very finely-grained. Delicate and sapid on the finish. Very juicy. Lovely. Easy and likely to be accessible in its youth." - Colin Hay (04/2025)

The 2024 Clos Marsalette is soft and open-knit, with lovely forward fruit and fine balance. Blue/purplish fruit, lavender, spice and menthol open nicely in the glass. The 2024 is attractive, although its build is on the mid-weight side, in keeping with the personality of a vintage with low-ish alcohols. Pretty floral overtones from the Cabernets that drive the blend lend freshness and lift.

Deep garnet-purple colored. Comes bounding out with notes of kirsch and stewed red plums, with hints of Indian spices and tar. The light to medium-bodied palate is soft and lively with black and red berry layers and a savory finish. (05/2025)

Notes of cassis and mulberries mingled with spices introduce the 2024 Clos Marsalette, a moderately weighted, juicy, elegant wine framed by brittle tannins and a short oaky finish. This is a blend of 48% Merlot, 52% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc.
