Jane Anson: 89 Punkte

"Raspberry leaf and redcurrant fruits, with chalky tannins that have finesse and lift, carefully extracted with gentle campfire smoke, although the hand of 2024 comes through in the soft mid-palate. Harvest September 27 to October 11, 60ha of vines here, 26hl/h yield, 70% in oak barrels with half of those new oak, plus 30% across stainless steel, clay and cement vats. Tasted twice. Largest Grand Cru Classe of St Emilion at 58 hectares, owned by Bernard Magrez." (04/2025)

Falstaff: 91 Punkte

"Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, dezente Randaufhellung.

The Drinks Business: 89-91 Punkte

"This must come in the heaviest bottle on the market. Lithe, plush and engaging ,with a dark berry fruit – bramble, blackberry and a little blueberry too. It’s very pure and unadulterated and the oak influence is very subtle. It lacks the delineation in the mid-palate of the very best and neither is it especially complex, but you know where this comes from and it’s likely to represent good value. A touch dry on the finish." - Colin Hay (04/2025)

Decanter: 92 Punkte

"Fragrant raspberry and blueberry on the nose. Smells sweet, ripe and floral. Quite a textured wine, tannins make the most impact, but they’re grippy and are combined with round fruit that adds purity and clarity. It’s certainly generous but balanced and kept in check. Cool and crystalline, there's vibrancy but a sense of finesse too while punchy. This has good potential." - Georgina Hindle (04/2025)

The 2024 Fombrauge is supple, forward and open-knit, all of which make it a fine choice for drinking upon release. Supple contours wrap around a core of plum, dark red cherry, spice, new leather, cedar and rose petal. This is a very different style than the past because of the reduction of new oak and gentler winemaking overall. There is a bit of firmness on the finish that needs time to resolve. Hopefully, élevage will take care of that. Aging is 70% in oak (50% new) and 30% in a combination of ceramic, cement and stainless steel. Tasted three times.

A little steely on the fruit with spiced red cherries and berries. Medium-bodied, this is chewy and lighter on the palate this year, showing some angular tannins that will need time to dissolve. Tight, medium-length finish.

I loved the 2024 Château Fombrauge both times I was able to taste it. Deeper ruby-hued, with perfumed notes of black raspberries, red plums, spring flowers, and spicy wood, it's medium-bodied, has a supple, layered mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and outstanding length. Its purity, finesse, and suppleness are exceptional. (05/2025)

Deep garnet-purple colored. Sails out of the glass with notes of fresh blueberries and black raspberries, plus nuances of anise, garrigue, and wet slate. The light to medium-bodied palate is lively and soft with pure black and red berry flavors and a spicy lift on the finish. (05/2025)
