"Love the aromatics here, and vibrant ruby colour, this is a real success and bright spot in the vintage, one to look out for, fragrant, tomato leaf, peony, lilac, raspberry fruits, lots of energy and delicate juice, not a powerhouse but skilful and early to medium drinking. 3.37 ph. Harvest 4 to 8 October, really held on to push for maturity. 30% new oak, even after sorting they are at 39hl/h yield here on these clay-limestone soils. Touch of chaptilsation and saignée, showing that even with waiting til October to harvest these things were needed." (04/2025)

"Kräftiges Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Zarte Kräuterwürze, rote Waldbeerfrucht, ein Hauch von Preiselbeeren, kandierte Orangenzesten, ein Hauch von Ribisel. Saftig, rotbeerig, zarte Extraktsüße, finessenreiche Struktur, mineralisch-salzig, ein delikater Speisenbegleiter." - Peter Moser (04/2025)

"Very beautiful. A lot of vineyard restructuration has taken place here and one now feels that a new kind of harmony has been achieved. A lovely wild herbal element, quite a tight frame, very mineral and fresh, chiselled by the pure calcaire tannins. Lovely texturally, this is shimmering and limpid, glistening and plush, with ripples of freshness and broad sheets of fine-textured silk. A brilliantly detailed bright dark berry fruit – brambles and blackberry above all. Wondrous texture with lovely fine-grained powdery chalky tannins. L’If is no longer a work in progress. Vivid and bright but never austere or strict, this is delicate and refined where other limestone Saint Émilions are typically a little austere. Joyous." - Colin Hay (05/2025)

"Vivid purple colour in the glass, lovely bright rim with aromatic purity, crystalline pink and purple fruits with floral scents. Some nice green aspects and a touch of blue fruit, iodine and saltiness. Pure and clean, fruit has such clarity with lively acidity that gives a tang before the expression becomes a little creamy and smooth. A lovely, easy, filling and balanced example with lots of personality and still signature of the limestone soils. Plenty of clean fruit, and liquorice tang. Really great. Excellent texture, minty, clove, great freshness and graphite. Good momentum here. Same pH as 2023. A yield of 38hl/ha. Ageing 50% new barrels, 50% in one wine barrels for 12 to 16 months. 3.37pH." - Georgina Hindle (04/2025)

The 2024 L'If is an elegant, sleek wine. Crushed flowers, tobacco, cedar, incense, dried herbs and menthol give the 2024 lovely aromatic presence. L'If is light on its feet, with a bit less overt concentration than most years, but there's more than enough persistence to compensate for that, shaping the wine in a style that favors linear energy over volume. Harvest took place between October 4-6 for the Merlots and October 8 for Franc, a much more condensed period between two rains. Aging is in French oak, 50% new. Tasted two times.

Quite an aromatic wine with appetizing spiciness, white pepper, hibiscus and red berries. Juicy and bright, with a medium body, fine-etched chalky tannins and a long, bright finish. Very pure fruit with excellent texture and mid-palate roundness. 85% merlot and 15% cabernet franc.

The 2024 Château L'If comes from vines located just beside Troplong Mondot and is based on 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, with the Merlot harvested between October 4 and 6 and the Cabernet Franc picked on October 8. This deeper-hued beauty offers terrific aromatics of ripe black cherries, darker currants, leafy herbs, and a beautiful sense of minerality. It's nicely textured, medium-bodied, has a ripe, layered, round mouthfeel, and sweet tannins. It's a beautiful wine in the vintage that's well worth your time and money. The alcohol is a natural 13% with a pH of 3.37, and it will spend 12-16 months in 50% new barrels, with the balance in once-used oak. (05/2025)

Deep garnet-purple colored. Needs a little shaking to wake up notes of black raspberries & kirsch, followed by hints of dusty soil, dried herbs, and crushed rocks. The light to medium-bodied palate is lively and fresh with zippy red berry flavors and fine-grained tannins, finishing with a fruity lift. (05/2025)

Aromas of raspberries, bay leaf, petals and licorice introduce the 2024 L'If, a medium-bodied, supple and lively wine built around a tangy spine of acidity and concluding with a discreetly herbal finish. It's a blend of Merlot with 15% Cabernet Franc.
