"Wild cherry and bright strawberry fruits on the attack, salted cracker and oyster shell salinity adds a mouthwatering character, but the tannins are a little hard, clsoing things down. 3.74 pH. Harvest 25 September to 8 October, 45% in demi-muids oak casks, 30% in foudres, 25% in barrel. 12hl/ha yield, 3.74 pH. Harvest 25 September to 8 October, no chaptilisation to be a true reflection of the vintage. (04/2025)

"Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Feine Kräuterwürze, dunkle Waldbeeren, ein Hauch von Heidelbeeren, Herzkirschen, etwas Nougat. Mittlere Komplexität, kirschige Textur, frischer Säurebogen, zarte Tannine, mineralisch-salzig, zitroniger Nachhall, ein lebendiger Speisenbegleiter. - Peter Moser (04/2025)

Vinum: 89 Punkte
"Expressiv im Duft; florale Noten, reife Brombeere, subtil rauchige Noten; am Gaumen leichtfüssig, frisch, feine, nicht übermässig vorhandene Tannine, rassige Säure, die Extraktion mit Fingerspitzengefühl gemacht. Für den jungen Konsum gemacht." (04/2025)

"Dark chocolate and crushed raspberries, lemon thyme (signalling the acidity) and blood orange too; a little hint of sweet spice. Fresh, bright, crunchy in its fruit profile and with fine-grained tannins sufficient to take in charge the fruit and distribute it evenly over the palate. Quite linear as a consequence with a long, gently tapering finish. No harshness. The yields may be very low here but this has been very well managed in the chai." - Colin Hay (04/2025)

The 2024 La Gurgue was cropped at 12 hl/ha because of the mildew. Claire Villars-Lurton told me that it was difficult to maintain the cover crop that grew out of control (as evidenced by some photos). The 2024 has a strong pencil-lead-scented nose, actually quite Pauillac-like in style. The palate is medium-bodied, quite strict and linear with light tannins and a lean finish. Hopefully it will gain more flesh during its barrel maturation in a combination of demi-muids, foudres and barriques. - Neal Martin (04/2025)

A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and the rest Petit Verdot, the 2024 La Gurgue reveals an austere, brooding bouquet of dark berries, cassis and spices. Medium-bodied, structured and dense, it's framed by a compact chassis of tannins with a fruity, somewhat firm finish. It will mature in a combination of large barrels (45%), foudres (30%) and barriques (25%). - Yohan Castaing (04/2025)
