Falstaff: 91 Punkte

"Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, dezente Randaufhellung. Feiner Edelholztouch, dunkle Waldbeeren, Brombeerkonfit, tabakige Nuancen, kandierte Orangenzesten. Saftig, rotbeerig, frischer Säurebogen, mineralisch-salzig, ein leichtfüßiger, lebendiger Speisenbegleiter mit Ribiselfinish." - Peter Moser (04/2025)

Vinum: 90 Punkte

"Leuchtendes Rubinrot; nobler Duft, feine Röstnoten, Kirschen, Kräuter, Pflaumen; am Gaumen gradlinig, konzentriert, kernige Gerbstoffe, knackige Frucht, leicht trocknend im Abgang. Dürfte mit dem Ausbau noch zulegen."

Jane Anson: 91 Punkte

"Medium intensity ruby, redcurrant and cedar, highly perfumed aromatics, this starts off with an attractive kick of fresh fruits that are vivid, not stalky, but certainly high acidity with a mouthwatering signoff, balanced by sweet oak. Careful winemaking on display, slate texture tannins, no need to wait too long but there are hidden depths that will become more evident over ageing. Harvest 24 September to 8 October. Same family since 1998, Jean-Charles Sioen owner and estate director, living between Belgium and St Emilion. Cabernet Franc aged in amphora. Organic certified." (04/2025)

The Drinks Business: 91-93+ Punkte

"Violets, peonies and a lovely waft of cedar. A hint of walnut oil, more usually found in riper vintages and maybe a little Kalamata olive tapenade. Black cherry and mulberry fruit. Plush and with very soft yet tactile tannins, this glides effortlessly over the palate. The steep upward progression here continues, certainly when one takes note of the challenges of the vintage." - Colin Hay (05/2025)

Decanter: 92 Punkte

"Filling and juicy, this is great with cool fresh aspects and some strawberry and blueberry fruit. It’s clean and definitely ends more mineral than fruity but with such length and intensity of flavour. Great personality and character, full of flesh, ripeness and balance. Not the most concentrated but what is there is really well done! Precise winemaking on show. Organic." - Georgina Hindle (04/2025)

The 2024 La Marzelle has a touch of reduction on the nose, but I appreciate the brambly red fruit and blueberry aromas, well defined and in sync with the oak. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, fresh and quite structured if just a bit "stiff" on the finish. Hopefully it will gain a bit more suppleness during its élevage.

Balanced and flavorful, this red proposes notes of red berries and baking spices on the nose. It’s medium-bodied with fine tannins. Seductive, with a fruity edge and a round finish. (04/2025)

Coming from deeper, blue clay soils not far from Figeac, the 2024 Château La Marzelle sports a saturated purple hue as well as solid aromatics of red and black cherries, chocolaty oak, graphite, and sappy flowers. It's broad, rich, and textured on the palate, with medium-bodied weight, ripe tannins, and a good finish. It's a strong effort in the vintage and shows the additional power and richness that was imparted by clay soils. (05/2025)

Deep garnet-purple in color. Notes of bay leaves and Bing cherries jump from the glass with underlying suggestions of dusty soil and mossy tree bark. The medium-bodied palate delivers plush tannins and plenty of freshness to support the vibrant red fruit, finishing earthy. (05/2025)
