Jane Anson: 93 Punkte

"This has a ton of chiselled black fruit, great depth and silkiness. Lovely texture, lots of juice, bright blue fruits, creamy as it opens, soft incense and cedar oak. Long cold soak of 8 days (not unusual here), 100% new oak. Definitely keeps the estate signature. 100% integral vinification, and all de-stemmed by hand, 1.68ha." (04/2025)

"Always the product of a labour of love here in a vintage in which all the best wines have been made in that way. This is a vintage in which this wine really expresses its identity. Lifted violet and peony notes, a little lily of the valley too, a touch of very dark chocolate interspersed with the violets. There is also a note of dried rose petals. Damson and bramble. The oak is already well-integrated but brings a definitive touch of spice to this. Very gracious tannins and a lovely sapidity, over a much narrower frame than Le Gay. Altogether more subtle and shimmering in its silky mouthfeel. Very good indeed, above all for a wine that is 100 per cent Merlot in a vintage where this is often very tricky. This shows its class. The élévage will need to be carefully managed, but this has considerable potential and will reward the patient." - Colin Hay (05/2025)

Falstaff: 94 Punkte

"Ein relativ entwickeltes, leicht oxidatives Muster, leider keine zweite Flasche vorhanden. Karamell vom Holz, Hochreife Frucht, Schwarzkirsche, Holunder, nachgerade teerige Noten. Auch schwarzer Pfeffer, dann auch Herzkirsche, Milchschokolade. Nicht extrem floral dieses Jahr. Eher Kräuternoten: Thymian. Der Gaumen zeigt einen fleischigen Extrakt, der Gerbstoff ist körnig, anhaftend und zuletzt trocken, wirkt aber gut von Frucht und Saftigkeit begleitet, die Abgangsaromatik zeigt sich von der würzigen Seite." (verkostet von Dr. Ulrich Sautter) (04/2025)

The 2024 La Violette is a sensual yet powerful Pomerol. Blue/purplish fruit, lavender, menthol, chocolate and espresso all meld together. La Violette is vinified entirely in French oak barrels. It's an approach that seems especially well-suited to this wine, as the wood amplifies flavor intensity. In recent years, La Violette has shed some of the heavy extraction that was penalizing in the past.

Good depth of fruit with medium to full body. Roasted spices, baked black cherries and some cocoa powder on the palate. This has firm, fine-grained and more polished tannins than many of its counterparts this year. Lengthy finish.

Juicy black cherries, spring flowers, violets, and spicy wood notes all emerge from the 2024 Château La Violette, another pure, beautifully textured wine from this team. With medium-bodied richness, it's all about finesse and elegance while still bringing wonderful depth, richness, and length. Made from 100% Merlot, it will spend 14 months in 100% new French oak barrels. (05/2025)

Deep garnet-purple colored. Offers up fragrant scents of lilacs, wild blueberries, and black raspberries, leading to touches of garrigue and fertile loam, plus a waft of cedar. The medium-bodied palate delivers grainy tannins and a good intensity of blackberry flavors with just enough freshness and a spicy finish. (05/2025)
