"Deep plum colour, cold ash and fennel on the opening, savoury, well judged and well extracted, this is on the slim side, with the focus on cassis bud and rose petals. You probably have to be a bit of a limestone fanatic (as I am) to truly love this vintage of Laroque, because it is less gourmet than in vintages like 2022 and 2023, setting texture and minerality above fruit, but exceptionally well handled by estate director David Suire, and it should soften further ove ageing. "Perfumed raspberry and cherry fruit with creamy scents and lots of rose aromatics. Glossy and rich, this has great concentration from the start. Cool and crisp, a touch of grip - the fine but firm tannins gives a structured mouthfeel with blueberry fruit and freshly picked mint on the finish. Round, juicy and with energy and lovely licks of salty minerality. Well made by winemaker David Suire, this will be a crowd pleaser and likely to be good value. 3.75pH. "Diese Jahr setzt sich der Wein aus 95 Prozent Trauben vom Kalkplateau zusammen; im Duft tiefgründig, mineralisch geprägt, dunkle Frucht, Blütentee, Marzipan; kompakter Gaumen, gradlinig, konzentriert, elegant, pudrige Gerbstoffe, perfekt dosierte Säure, grosser Spannungsbogen, viel Frische, Balance und eine ausgesprochen gute Länge, kalkiges Finale. Zuverlässig, auch dieses Jahr und eine gute Interpretation von Jahrgang und Terroir." (04/2025)

"Das Bouquet von Laroque offenbart sich auf subtile und vielschichtige Weise! Es enthüllt Nuancen von reifen schwarzen Beeren, erdigen Noten und einem Hauch von Süßholzstangen. Am Gaumen ist der Weg identisch; beziehungsweise hat der Wein eine leicht liebliche Seite, eine nennenswerte Dichte und Kraft. Die salzige Seite des Auftakts unterstreicht die Spannung, die Dichte wird durch einen cremigen Touch verkörpert und die Kraft durch Tannine, die noch etwas kantig sind, aber eine klare Tendenz zur Abrundung aufweisen. Dies ist ein nachdenklicher Wein, der sich vorsichtig vorwärts bewegt, aber weiß, wohin er will. Der Ausbau wird ihn in diese Richtung lenken und einmal mehr wird Laroque zu den großen Erfolgen von Saint-Emilion zählen. Das ist kein Schicksal, sondern einfach nur logisch. Es ist noch ein weiter Weg zu gehen und das Finale muss an Ausdruck gewinnen, aber die Weichen sind gestellt… sehr gut gestellt! Ein eleganter und funkelnder Wein, der Samtigkeit andeutet und dessen Abgang das Verdienst hat, die kostbare Seite des Kalksteins zu betonen, ein wenig auf Kosten der Frucht, aber diese wird früher oder später kommen, da der Boden ideal vorbereitet ist." "Delicate and so refined. So pure and precise too in its red and then darker berry fruit signature – at first loganberry and raspberry, then mulberry and bramble. This is a little more nutty than Larcis, tasted just before. It’s fresher too and a little less sunny with a slightly darker berry fruit – a touch of loganberry too that is not present on the Côte Pavie. That renders this more taut and tense and that is reinforced again by the calcaire tannins that structure and sculpt the wine vertically. What is also impressive here is the layered viscosity – very rare in the vintage – which makes this rather special. With aeration there’s more and more blackcurrant and the fresh lift that brings – I’m almost reminded or Ribena from my childhood. A study in fruit purity and so brilliantly juicy on the finish. A lovely liquorice note too on the finish." - Colin Hay (04/2025)
