"...sehr schöne, reife und klare Frucht, nichts ist laut, nichts vorlaut oder vordergründig, gute Säure, mittlerer Körper, gute Tannine, feine Bitterschoko mit Nüssen, saftig, große Balance, sehr schöne Struktur. Top job, Axel!" (04/2025)

Decanter: 95 Punkte

"Blackcurrant, dark cherries, lovely bramble fruit - crystalline purity on the nose. Clean and silky, sleek and svelte, definitely light footed but with clarity and bright, zingy acidity giving a touch of austerity and salty, minerality on the finish. Complex and layered with structure and lots of elegance and nuance. Axel Heinz director. A yield of 38hl/ha. 5% Petit Verdot completes the blend. 3.64pH. Ageing 60% new oak. 5% press. Julien Viaud consultant." - Georgina Hindle (04/2025)

Jane Anson: 94 Punkte

"This has elegance, fine tannins, a clear expression of how Cabernet Sauvignon can perform in the vintage, rosebud, peony, slim, savoury, with fine and attractive aromatics, lovely salinity on the finish, nuanced and mouthwatering. Rises above the reputation of the vintage. Axel Heinz director. As of this vintage, only the original 1855 plots are in the wine Harvest 23 September to 9 October. 38 hl/ha yield, Julien Viaud consultant. Tasted twice. 60% new oak for ageing, 38 hl/ha, harvest 23 September to 9 October." (04/2025)

Falstaff: 94 Punkte

"Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung.

The Drinks Business: -

"A lovely vibrant purple rim. Glossy and charming. Immediately and effusively floral. But nuttier when re-tasted at the UGC, with more cracked black pepper notes too. This is an entirely different wine to the one we are familiar with from Lascombes. Lilac, lily, a hint of violet and white rose. Very pretty aromatically. A pointillist’s version of the still life vase of freshly cut flowers. Precise and eloquent in its detail. Very natural. Very focussed. In the mouth this is lifted and elegant, very much at the top of the palate but there is considerable depth and concentration too – it’s just disguised. Sapid and juicy, long and fresh. I love the cedar that comes through in the mid-palate above all with aeration. Crystalline and pure, and highly refined this is very true to the style being crafted since 2023. The new Lascombes identity is already very clear. 93-95. [I also tasted Lascombes’ new cuvée La Côte de Lascombes (Margaux; 100% Merlot from almost 5 hectares on clay over limestone). This will not be released en primeur. Since the first vintage to be released is the 2022 in September I will respect the preferences of the property and hold back my tasting note for now. But, without giving too much away, it’s exceptional!]." - Colin Hay (04/2025)

The 2024 Lascombes represents another important step for Lascombes under its current leadership. Silky and elegant, with notable depth, the Grand Vin impresses with its textural resonance and persistence. New leather, licorice, lavender and incense weave through a core of dark-toned fruit. Lascombes is shaping up to be one of the sleepers of 2024. I can't wait to taste it from bottle. Impressive. Tasted three times.

A touch of warm bread, graphite and fresh blackberries with a touch of black pepper. Richer and more concentrated than many from this vintage, this has excellent depth, full body and very complete, fine-grained tannins. Long, broad and juicy. 65% cabernet sauvignon, 30% merlot and 5% cabernet franc and petit verdot combined. Around 60% new oak with lighter toast now.

Based largely on Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with smaller amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, and aging in 60% new oak, the 2024 Château De Lascombes is deeper hued than the Chevalier de Lascombes and offers more cassis, graphite, classy oak, and scorched earth. Medium-bodied, it has remarkable purity, ripe, building tannins, solid mid-palate depth, balance, and length. It's another brilliant effort by technical director Axel Heinz at this château that's up there with the crème de la crème of the vintage. (05/2025)

Deep garnet-purple in color. Features scents of black cherries, fresh strawberries, and charcoal with touches of bay leaves and crushed rocks. The light to medium-bodied palate is bright and breezy with plush tannins and a red berry lift on the finish. (05/2025)

Aromas of cassis, lilac and nicely integrated creamy new oak introduce the 2024 Lascombes, a medium to full-bodied, dense and youthfully structured young wine underpinned by a bright spine of acidity and concluding with gently chewy tannins. This was cropped at 38 hectoliters per hectare and saw a combination of tank bleeds and reverse osmosis to amp up its concentration. Maturation is in 60% new oak, with lighter toasts than was formerly the case at this address.
