2024 Château Les Ormes-de-Pez

The 2024 Ormes de Pez has a crisp, tensile bouquet with black olive tapenade infusing black fruit, fine delineation and nicely integrated oak. The medium-bodied palate showcases grainy tannins and a core of black fruit laced with graphite and tobacco, leading to a slightly smudged finish that lacks the complexity of the 2022. Still, this is a decent Saint-Estèphe.

A very fruity red this year, showing sweet berries on the nose. Medium-bodied with firm tannins. Some hawthorn fruit. This delivers more directness than nuance. Juicy, medium-long finish. 48% merlot, 41% cabernet sauvignon, 6% petit verdot, 5% cabernet franc.

Deep ruby/plum-hued, the 2024 Château Ormes De Pez offers solid aromatics of smoke red and black fruits, graphite, tobacco, and freshly sharpened pencils. I like its overall texture, it's medium-bodied, has ripe tannins, and solid length on the finish. (05/2025)

Deep garnet-purple colored. Jumps from the glass with spritely notes of crushed blackberries and raspberries, plus hints of fruit cake, hoisin, and tobacco leaf. The light to medium-bodied palate is soft and lightly chewy with just enough berry preserves flavors and a lifted finish. (05/2025)

Offering up discreet hints of berry fruit framed by toasty oak, the 2024 Ormes de Pez is medium-bodied, taut and angular.
