Structured yet tight, it reveals iodine, salty graphite, cool blue fruit, mint, and cola. The texture grows on the second taste, gaining mass and flesh, with juicy sweetness on the mid-palate, evolving into a chewy finish. Tobacco, clove, liquorice, dark chocolate, and cedar add complexity. "Fragrant cassis bud, rose petals, and peony. Great definition, mouthwatering on the finish, savoury blue and black fruits, less concentration than the past few vintages, but this uses slate textured tannins, cold ash smoke and well-judged salinity to compensate and build interest and engagement. Harvest September 22 through to October 9. 66% new oak. Low yields of around 30hl/h. 16% press wine, 52% of the overall production (with the rest in Pichon Comtesse Reserve, no 3rd wine). 3.7 pH. "Dichtes Rubinrot, super floral im Duft, Veilchen über Johannisbeeren, kühlem Kamin; am Gaumen gradlinig, anfangs scheu, baut aus, Massen an Tannin, feinkörnig, präzis, diese sind präsent, dominieren nie die Frucht, hochelegant, langanhaltend, frisch, endet auf Brombeeren und eine leicht pfeffrige Note. Eine federleichte und doch konzentrierte Comtesse."

"Dark chocolate drops, a little violet, less of the cedar that one often discovers from this en primeur, black cherries, a twist of the pencil sharpener and a little hint of freshly crushed green peppercorns with the aromatic lift they bring. So gentle on the attack, we can really only be at this address, but there’s less of the velour of recent vintages. More cedar when re-tasted after decanting at the property. A wine that glistens as it glides over the palate, exuding an effortless elegance and levity – reinforced by the passage from velour to silk in this vintage. Very beautiful and true to its identity, if with not quite the seductive appeal of 2019, 2020 or 2022. That said, it’s still pretty special!" - Colin Hay (04/2025)

"Die Frische, Tiefe und Klarheit der Frucht im Bouquet kündigen einen ausgezeichneten Wein an. So offenbart er Düfte von roten und schwarzen Beeren sowie würzige und blumige Noten. Der Wein ist im Auftakt recht dicht und überzeugt durch seine Finesse und Zartheit. Er ist kraftvoll, aber subtil, klar definiert, linear und präzise wie ein Seiltänzer, der ohne zu zögern und mit Entschlossenheit seinen Weg geht (wohl wissend, dass er nur zwei Optionen hat: geradeaus oder fallen). Gestützt von perfekt eingebundenen Tanninen ist der Wein spritzig, brillant, schmackhaft und saftig. Wenn Kraft und Finesse Harmonie schaffen, ist der Wein gelungen! Ein Pichon Comtesse, der sich klar vor den Jahrgang stellt und gleichzeitig dessen Besonderheiten aufnimmt." (04/2025)
