"Sappy, vivid red and black fruits, nice depth of colour, and although there is austerity here, it is enjoyable, washed by cloves, black pepper and gunsmoke, 20% new oak casks, harvest 30 September to 7 October. In organic conversion. Family estate of Nicolas and Cyrille Thienpont. First vintage with some Malbec in the wine, tasted twice." (04/2025)

"Bramble fruit aromas on the nose with some dried herbs and salty stones. Clean and supple, this has nice concentration and a touch of chew to the tannins which is nicely filling in the mouth. Lovely pure fruit with a soft tang and mineral bite on the finish. A real success with bright juiciness but still structure and length. Charming." - Georgina Hindle (04/2025)

The 2024 Puygueraud is promising. In 2024, Puygueraud is not quite as dark or powerful as it can be, but that is not a bad thing. Crushed flowers, cedar and sweet pipe tobacco lend notable aromatic presence. The profile in 2024 is distinctly red-fruit leaning, which I find quite attractive. This is very nicely done. Tasted two times.

A light but bright wine showing blue fruit and cherries. Tannins are slightly chewy, with bright acidity and crunchy blueberries on the medium-bodied palate. Medium-length finish. 84% merlot, 14% cabernet franc and 2% malbec.

The 2024 Château Puygueraud checks in as 84% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Malbec from a mix of limestone plateau and more clay hillside parcels. It's a juicy, lively, red and black-fruited effort with lots of sappy floral and underbrush notes, medium body, a ripe yet fresher, juicy mouthfeel, supple tannins, and solid length on the finish. Deep garnet-purple colored. Slips out of the glass with seducing scents of kirsch and black raspberries, opening out to hints of cinnamon stick and lavender. The light-bodied palate is vibrant and soft-textured with lovely purity and a fragrant finish. (05/2025)

A blend of 84% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc and 2% Malbec, the 2024 Puygueraud reveals aromas of violet, cassis and spices mingled with lively notes of dark berries. Medium-bodied, enveloping and juicy, it's framed by firm tannins, concluding with a slightly oaky finish. Notably, Malbec makes its return to the blend this year.
