Falstaff: 90 Punkte

"Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, Zarte Randaufhellung. Florale Nuancen, tabakige Würze, zart blättrig. Saftig, reife Kirschen, zarte Süße, etwas überextrahiert, mineralisch, zarte Süße, trocknet im Abgang aus, nicht ohne eine gewisse Rustikalität." - Peter Moser (04/2025)

Vinum: 91 Punkte

"Feinduftig, mit dunkler Frucht, feinen, floralen Aromen und etwas Pfeffer; reife Pflaumen, Gewürze, getrocknete Kräuter; feiner Gaumen, seidige Gerbstoffe, wohl dosierte Säure, kraftvoll, jedoch nicht überladen; harmonisch, langanhaltend."

"Grilled oak on the opening, tar and sandalwood, touches of incense, high austerity on the tannic frame, this has ambitious consruction that suggests they are looking for a wine that can age. Give it a good three or four years. Harvest 28 September to 4 October. 40% new oak." (04/2025)

Decanter: 89 Punkte

"Blackcurrants, cherries, milk chocolate and violets on the nose. Crisp and cheerful to start, this is quite lightly framed, the blue and red berry fruit doesn't have a huge amount of density or fleshiness but the tannins are presented to match, meaning they’re super fine and well integrated. This is silky with some hints of wood, aniseed and clove spice on the finish. A little muted right now and a touch dry on the finish. This will need a few years before being ready." - Georgina Hindle (04/2025)

Yves Beck: 91-93 Punkte

"Rol Valentin zeichnet sich durch seine Finesse aus, was nicht wirklich überraschend, aber dennoch wichtig zu betonen ist. Leicht charmant im Auftakt, ist der Wein schlank und strukturiert. Er hat Schwung und wirkt mundend. Ein Wein, der sich selbst treu bleibt, und das ist grundlegend! Bravo." (04/2025)

The 2024 Rol Valentin is a very beautiful wine. Naturally, the 2024 is on the lighter side relative to the norm here, but it excels with fine balance and a total sense of harmony. Crushed flowers, mocha, new leather, incense, licorice and espresso build effortlessly. This mid-weight Saint-Émilion is pure charm. Tasted two times.

Mineral red berries follow through to a medium-bodied palate with fine-grained tannins and juicy fruit. Linear and firm.

89-91 POINTS
Based on 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Malbec, aged 40% in new oak and 60% in once-used barrels, the 2024 Château Rol Valentin reveals complex notes of red and black fruits, spicy wood, and sappy flowers. Nicely balanced and medium-bodied on the palate, it has firm yet integrated tannins and outstanding length on the finish. (05/2025)

86-88 POINTS
Notes of oak, smoke and pencil lead preface the 2024 Rol Valentin, a moderately weighted, structured and firm wine framed by brittle tannins and a spicy finish. Less dense and concentrated than in previous vintages, it reflects a more restrained expression of the estate. The blend is composed of 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec, matured in 40% new oak.
