The 2024 Riesling Rauenthaler Nonnenberg shimmers with notes of tangerine peel and juicy, ripe yet tart fruit. The palate, however, turns to stony austerity. This has beautiful citric tension, linearity and poise. Yes, there is something uncompromising now, but this will blossom. Its bone-dry finish shows the way with clarity, purity and poise. The saline intensity of this wine at the compact finish is so extraordinary that it distracts from all the flinty and citrus-zest excitement up at the front! Serious concentration, yet so bright and dynamic on the medium-bodied palate. The mineral-citrus whiplash, right at the end, may be too much for some. From organically grown grapes with Fair'n Green certification. Drink from release.
