Yves Beck: 88-90 Punkte

"Punkte Das einladende Bouquet offenbart Noten von Schokolade und Brombeeren, ergänzt durch einen Hauch von Süßholz. Der Wein ist von guter Fülle und verfügt über samtene Tannine, die dem gesamten Gaumen ein solides Fundament bieten. Ein köstlicher und harmonischer Wein, den man schon in seiner Jugend genießen kann. 2028-2035" (04/2026)

Jane Anson: 93 Punkte

"Deep plum colour, measured and enjoyable dark fruit aromatics, pumice stone texture and firm tannins that hold things together through the palate. This is a well handled Grand Barrail, where you feel the acidity lifting through the palate, threatening to overpower, but stays within the lines, keeping focus on the flesh of the fruit, and will integrate further over ageing. Harvest September 5 to 20. 27% new oak. Dourthe Vignobles. 47hl/h yield, 3.6ph." (04/2026)

Decanter: 93 Punkte

"Violet and blue fruit aromas. Good combination of texture and freshness, fleshy tannins make their presence known, chewy, juicy and alive with good persistence and a clean and chalky finish. I like the strawberry and cranberry juice with mouthwatering acidity alongside fleshy, chewy, bouncy tannins. A good mouthful of wine with persistence. Will soften over ageing and just smooth out. A yield of 47hl/ha. 3.6pH. Pénélope Godefroy now technical director across the Maison Dourthe portfolio." - Georgina Hindle (04/2026)

Vinum: 89 Punkte

"Dunkelfruchtig und mineralisch geprägt, kühler Kamin, feuchter Stein; fruchtiger Auftakt, markante Tannine, lebhafte Säure, zeigt Grip und eine gute Länge, hallt auf Waldbeeren nach." - Adrian van Velsen (04/2026)

The 2025 Grand Barrail Lamarzelle Figeac is a powerful, brooding wine. Dark red-toned fruit, gravel, spice, dried flowers and licorice all meld together. Coarse tannins have always been an issue here, but that seems to be improving of late. The sheer density of the 2025 belies very high yields of 47 hectoliters per hectare.

A juicy and savory wine with berry, terra cotta and chocolate aromas. It’s medium-bodied with velvety tannins and a delicious finish. Really attractive. Only 13.5% alcohol. 80% merlot and 20% cabernet franc. (04/2026)

A terrific, elegant wine in the vintage, the 2025 Château Grand Barrail Lamarzelle Figeac reveals red, black, and blue fruits intermixed with graphite, sappy flowers, and hints of chocolate. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it has a pure, layered mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great finish. (05/2026)

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2025 Grand Barrail Lamarzelle Figeac shimmies out with bright notes of raspberry pie and kirsch, giving way to suggestions of wild thyme, pencil lead, and mossy tree bark. Medium-bodied, the palate delivers mineral-laced red berry flavors with a racy backbone and grainy tannins, finishing earthy. (04/2026)

91-93 POINTS

The 2025 Grand Barrail Lamarzelle Figeac reveals a more expressive bouquet than in previous vintages, with aromas of cassis, mulberries and floral notes. Medium- to full-bodied, juicy and enveloping, it’s elegant and concentrated, built around delicate, precise tannins and concludes with an ethereal, perfumed finish that underscores a subtle evolution in the estate’s stylistic profile.
