2025 Château Les Hauts-Conseillants

The 2025 Les Hauts-Conseillants is fabulous. Rich and ample in the glass, with tremendous fruity purity, Hauts-Conseillants has so much to offer. Dark red-toned fruit, mocha, new leather, espresso and spice box fill out the layers in a sumptuous Lalande-de-Pomerol that hits all the right notes. Merlot came in starting on September 11, and a dollop of Cabernet Franc came in on September 18.

Well driven and focused, with vivid, succulent berries and some savory undertones. Medium-bodied with sinewy tannins. Solid and crunchy, with a spicy finish of excellent length. (04/2026) 

Powerful with and intense and strong tannic structure and fine cassis like fruit underneath. This wine will need a few years of cellaring to meld together but it is a well composed, spicy offering that should provide enjoyable drinking 3-4 years after bottling.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2025 Les Hauts-Conseillants opens a touch broody with notes of cedar chest and charcoal, opening out to a core of prunes and stewed blackberries, plus suggestions of Indian spices and dried mint. The medium-bodied palate is packed with expressive, stewed black fruit flavors, framed by grainy tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long and savory. The blend is 97% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc. The alcohol is 13.4% and the pH is 3.64. This is aging in French oak barrels, 33% new. (04/2026)
