Falstaff: 91 Punkte

"Deep dark ruby garnet, opaque core, violet reflections, delicate edge brightening. Some nougat, dark berry fruit, a hint of herbs, somewhat restrained bouquet. Medium complexity, subtle plum fruit, integrated tannins, some nougat, needs time." - Peter Moser (04/2026)

Yves Beck: 86-88 Punkte

"Maucaillous Bouquet ist vom Ausbau geprägt, zeigt aber auch Noten von roten Beeren. Er beginnt samten und entwickelt sich linear. Seine eingebundenen Tannine bilden das Rückgrat, gemeinsam mit der Säurestruktur. Ein frischer und saftiger Wein, den man in seiner Jugend genießen sollte. 2029-2037" (04/2026)

Jane Anson:  91 Punkte

"Powerful rich purple colour, high cloves, spiced cocoa bean and smoked earth, this has high extraction, walks the line but stays on the right side of bitter. Chalky tannins as it opens, allowing the fruit to appear. 30% new oak. Harvest 8 to 22 September."  (04/2026)

Decanter: 90 Punkte

"Sweet coffee and liquorice on the nose with a hint of sloe berries. The palate is a bit fragile, though fine and precise, moderately concentrated, and short. Red cherries and red plums dominate the flavour, with fine-grained tannins supporting the structure. Quite accessible already" (04/2026)

Giuseppe Lauria | Fine Wine Guide:  91 Punkte

The 2025 Maucaillou needed time to open in the glass, eventually revealing blackberry, raspberry, very faint licorice scents and a dab of iodine. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, impressive depth, fine acidity and quite a sustained, delineated finish. This is a very well crafted Moulis that should give a lot of pleasure once bottled.

Fresh and refined, with polished tannins and a precise nature. It’s medium-bodied with a caressing finish. Harmonious for such a young wine. (04/2026)

A solid, nicely made wine, the 2025 Château Maucaillou is based on 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, and 9% Petit Verdot that's being raised 14 months in 30% new French oak. The nose reveals red and black fruits, smoky wood, graphite, and some chocolaty, herbal nuances. On the palate, it's medium-bodied and nicely textured, with quality tannins and good overall balance. It has outstanding potential. (05/2026)

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2025 Maucaillou storms out with notes of plum preserves and red currant jelly, leading to an undercurrent laced with cedar chest, spice box, and forest floor. The medium-bodied palate is bright with great tension and firm, grainy tannins, finishing with impressive length. (04/2026)
