"If you want to taste an estate that shows you what is the impact of limestone in the 2025 vintage, you can do a lot worse that heading here. Has the uplift and pincer movement of limestone, plenty of character, soft berry fruits, and a beautiful saline kick on the finish. Harvest September 10 to 30. 50% new oak. 30 hl/ha.Tasted twice. Marie and Jean-Christophe Lefévère owners, as at Sansonnet and now Valandraud, and now five years here at Villemaurine, so getting to know the vineyard. 50% new oak, with light toast." (04/2026)

"Supple and fleshy, ripe but not overly chewy, just enough to give this quite a plump and rounded expression. Lovely cooling blueberry scents - half ripe half fresh with fine, crisp tannins. Really well integrated and an enjoyable expression. Friendly, fun, powerful and out to please. Yummy with wet stone, slate and iron elements on the finish. Great stuff." - Georgina Hindle (04/2026)

"Offen im Duft, markante Röstnoten, dunkle Kirschfrucht, rauchig geprägt; weicher Auftakt, delikate, süsse Frucht, das Holz stützt, überlagert nicht, im Abgang rotfruchtig, frisch und mit würzigem Finale auf kalkige Mineralität. Dürfte mit dem Ausbau noch finessenreicher werden." - Adrian van Velsen (04/2026)

"Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Dezentes dunkles Beerenkonfit, zart nach Brombeeren und Herzkirschen, ein Hauch von Edelholz. Straff, engmaschig, rotbeerige Nuancen, tragende Tannine, salzig-zitroniger Nachhall, verfügt über Entwicklungspotenzial." - Peter Moser (04/2026)

The 2025 Villemaurine is impressively deep and polished, even if there is some reduction. Inky dark fruit, chocolate, new leather, grilled herbs and lavender convey tons of textural intensity and sheer power. A reduction in new oak and the introduction of casks for both vinification and élevage are some of the recent developments here. Tasted two times.

The 2025 Villemaurine comes from vines up to 45 years old on mainly limestone soils with a shallow layer of clay. It was picked from the second week of September at 32 hl/ha, aged in 50% new oak. It has a refined nose, mainly red fruit (strawberry and raspberry) with hints of pressed violet in the background. The oak is neatly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with bright red cherry and strawberry fruit that dovetails into darker fruit towards the structured finish. There is a pleasing fluidity to this Villemaurine with a peppery aftertaste. Quite a serious wine.

A very fine red with dark berry and tar character and a hint of sea salt. It’s medium-bodied, firm and silky. Chewy and crunchy at the end. Plenty of potential. 80% merlot, 15% cabernet franc and 5% cabernet sauvignon. (04/2026)

Sporting a dense purple hue, the 2025 Château Villemaurine reveals exotic red and blue fruits, chalky, liquid rock-like minerality, and graphite, with floral and liquid violet nuances. Coming from a brilliant terroir on the upper plateau, it's based on 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon that's still resting in 50% new barriques, 20% one-year-old barriques, and 30% foudre. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with a concentrated, focused mouthfeel, ripe, polished tannins, and a great finish. Harvest ran from September 10th through the 28th, and this hit 14% alcohol with a pH of 3.49. Tasted four times with consistent notes. (05/2026)
