The NV Blanc de Noir Brut Nature is a pure Malterdingen Pinot Noir from the 2020 harvest blended with 20% reserve wines (reserve perpetuelle started in 2017) and disgorged in November 2024. The vines were planted about 50 years ago, partly with genetics that deliver big grapes whose quality is not good enough for red wine and has therefore been selected for sparkling wine. The wine opens with a clear and elegant, aromatic bouquet with sweet cherry and brioche but also refreshing lemony notes. Round but dry, fresh and precise on the palate, this is a full-bodied, quite generous but well-structured Pinot Sekt with fine grip and good, intense yet refreshing length. The base wine was fermented in a 2,280-liter oak vat and bottled in May of the following year. The only sulfur the wine got was the 10 milligrams per liter for the must. This is a classic, mouthfilling, dry and structured style of sparkling wine that is more of a menu wine than an aperitif. 12% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in July 2025.
