2022 G D'Estournel

A blend of 67% Merlot, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Cabernet Franc, the 2022 G D'Estournel has lots of up-front darker plum and currant fruit as well as medium to full-bodied richness, a round, supple, elegant mouthfeel, and classic Médoc notes of tobacco, sappy herbs, and earth. It's the finest vintage of this release I've tasted. (05/2023)

The 2022 G d'Estournel is a blend of 67% Merlot, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3.6% Cabernet Franc, and 0.4% Petit Verdot. Deep garnet-purple in color, it rolls effortlessly out of the glass with exuberant notes of ripe black cherries, warm plums, and mulberries, leading to wafts of cinnamon toast and garrigue. The medium to full-bodied palate has an alluring savory quality, featuring lightly chewy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing with a peppery lift. (05/2023)
