Spicy to the core, the 2021 Doyen opens with a dark mix of cedar shavings, dried orange peel, candle wax and clove. It is deeply textural, with silken waves of ripe red and blue fruits, all neatly balanced by a core of vibrant acidity. The senses are drenched in primary concentration as the 2021 Doyen moves into the savory spectrum, leaving nuances of cocoa and spice. This is a bit of a big boy but the balance within cannot be denied.

Deep garnet-purple colored, it waltzes out with a gorgeous perfume of kirsch, red currant jelly, and juicy blackberries, leading to hints of candied violets, cinnamon stick, and forest floor. The full-bodied palate delivers elegant black and red berry layers with a floral undercurrent and fine-grained texture, finishing with a refreshing lift.
