THE MOST EXCITING WINES OF THE YEAR

No. 2 / 100

Aubert
Chardonnay Sonoma Coast UV-SL Vineyard 2023
96 Punkte
"Offers a stunning mix of crème brûlée, orange curd and peach preserves, with so much depth and complexity to the range of details, including wildflower honey and apricot pastry, plus spicy accents of nutmeg and Saigon cinnamon. Toffee and a touch of smoked salt linger on the finish. Drink now through 2035." - MaryAnn Worobiec (07/2025)
No. 3 / 100

Ridge
Lytton Springs Dry Creek Valley 2023
95 Punkte
"Deeply structured and full of tension, this polished red displays a distinctive personality, offering bold blackberry flavors accented with savory anise, black pepper and dark Asian spices. Ends with big but refined tannins. Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Carignane, Alicante Bouschet and Mataro. Drink now through 2035." - Tim Fish (08/2025)

Williams Selyem
Pinot Noir Russian River Valley Eastside Road Neighbors 2023
96 Punkte
"Captures the floral-laced purity of the vintage, with a beautiful beam of boysenberry and loganberry puree flanked with light briar and apple wood notes, all set against a hibiscus-, iris- and violet-filled backdrop. The succulent energy provides a great underpinning for it all. Best from 2026 through 2040." - James Molesworth (09/2025)

No. 5 / 100

Château Beau-Séjour Bécot
St.-Emilion 2022
96 Punkte
"This is very fresh, expressive and focused, with violet, iris and rosehip notes darting to the fore, while flavors of sleek raspberry and red currant preserves race along behind. Almost flattering, but there’s a subtle chalky tension piercing the finish, which sails through. A dreamy wine. Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2026 through 2040. 1,600 cases imported." - James Molesworth (03/2025)
No. 6 / 100
Clos Apalta
Apalta 2021
96 Punkte
"Aromatically complex and intriguing, this offers a spiced plum pastry note that melds with petrichor, pine, dried violet and cocoa powder elements. The palate is round and richly textured, with Szechuan peppercorn accents to the concentrated black cherry, plum and cassis center. Everything comes together harmoniously on the finish and lingers, with present but integrated tannins. A stunner that should develop nicely in the cellar. Carmenère, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2040. 1,500 cases imported." - Aaron Romano (05/2025)

No. 7 / 100

Produttori del Barbaresco
Barbaresco 2021
94 Punkte
"A vibrant, well-defined red, offering rose, cherry, strawberry, white pepper and mineral flavors. Sleek and elegant, this firms up on the linear finish. Balanced and approachable now yet would benefit from a bit more time to knit together. Excellent length. Best from 2027 through 2040. 7,000 cases imported." - Bruce Sanderson (10/2025)
No. 8 / 100

Wayfarer
Pinot Noir Fort Ross-Seaview Wayfarer Vineyard The Estate 2023
95 Punkte
"Offers beautifully rendered notes of hibiscus, rose petal, damson plum and mulberry that stretch out lengthily thanks to the fine-beaded acidity and taut, precise tannins. The sapid finish lets in tea and incense hints amid the glistening fruit. Best from 2026 through 2036." - James Molesworth (09/2025)

No. 9 / 100

Castello di Ama
Chianti Classico San Lorenzo Gran Selezione 2021
95 Punkte
"Deep, dark and densely wrought, featuring black cherry, blackberry, violet, iron and tobacco aromas and flavors. The sinewy tannins are enhanced by the vivid acidity, and everything comes together on the crystalline aftertaste, which echoes the fruit and floral elements. Power meets finesse. Sangiovese and Merlot. Best from 2028 through 2050. 1,000 cases imported." - Bruce Sanderson (08/2025)
