2021 Beckstoffer Bourn Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

Aromas of black currant and pencil shavings with some bark. Full-bodied with black berries, nutmeg, meat and earth. Full-bodied with chewy tannins. Juicy fruit but a little rustic at the end. Needs time to soften. Best after 2026. (11/2023)

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Bourn Vineyard is beautiful, and it might be one of the finest wines I've tasted from this often overlooked site in St. Helena. Darker cherries, Griotte cherries, Asian spices, violets, and baking chocolate notes all give way to a full-bodied, deep, layered, concentrated Cabernet Sauvignon that has beautiful tannins as well as length. It's a powerful, layered, textured wine to enjoy over the coming 20 years. (12/2023)

The 2021 Beckstoffer Bourn Cabernet Sauvignon, the last vintage of this label, has 5% Petite Sirah in the blend. Deep garnet-purple in color, it charges out of the gate with notes of black cherries, crushed blueberries, Indian spices, and dusty soil leading to wafts of potpourri and star anise. The full-bodied palate is rich, concentrated, and impactful, delivering mouthcoating black and blue fruit preserves supported by a refreshing backbone and velvety tannins, finishing long and opulent.
